Giving Back to Those Who’ve Served: EZRA Launches Coaching for 1,000 Veterans
At EZRA, we believe those who serve others deserve support in return, especially during times of change. That’s why we’re proud to announce the next chapter of the Gift of Coaching, our ongoing initiative to bring free professional coaching to the people who need it most.
Once again, we’re partnering with world-renowned thought leader and bestselling author Simon Sinek to offer free coaching to 1,000 US veterans navigating the transition from military to civilian careers.
Why veterans?
Veterans bring resilience, leadership, and adaptability to the workforce, qualities many organizations strive to build from the inside out. Yet despite their strengths, the shift to civilian life can be one of the most challenging career transitions a person can face.
Many veterans struggle to translate military experience into corporate roles, and often find themselves without long-term career support. According to research by USC’s Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans & Military Families, veterans frequently encounter difficulties applying for civilian jobs due to challenges with skills translation and limited employer support beyond recruitment. And while veteran hiring initiatives exist, retention and career mobility often remain overlooked. That’s why this next chapter of the Gift of Coaching is so important.
“Veterans bring resilience and leadership to the workforce, yet many face challenges adapting their experience to civilian careers. EZRA has seen how coaching helps individuals navigate change, and we are honored to offer this opportunity to those who have served, ensuring they feel supported in their next chapter.”
– Nick Goldberg, CEO of EZRA
This cohort marks the third chapter of the Gift of Coaching, following two successful campaigns supporting frontline healthcare workers and educators. For Simon Sinek, who has spent years working with and learning from military leaders, this latest chapter is especially meaningful:
“I’ve learned so much from spending time with the military. One thing I know for sure: transitioning into the private sector is highly stressful. I’m grateful to EZRA for helping veterans through that process.”
– Simon Sinek, New York Times bestselling author of Start with Why and The Infinite Game
How it works
This initiative offers 1,000 veterans three months of free, one-to-one coaching with an ICF-certified professional coach. Veterans can apply directly or be nominated by a colleague through a short form on the campaign website.
Whether it’s gaining clarity on career goals, building confidence in a new environment, or learning to apply their leadership skills in new contexts, coaching can be the support system veterans need to thrive beyond their service.
And with nearly 8.4 million veterans currently in the US civilian workforce, the need for targeted career support has never been more urgent.
