Alshaya - Case Study
What if you could be a big fish in a big pond?
Alshaya Group run some of the world’s most famous franchises. Household names like Starbucks, H&M, American Eagle, P.F. Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory and Victoria's Secret (to name just a few).
They’re the brains behind 4,000 stores across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Turkiye. And they’re growing.
Why did they talk to us?
Alshaya wanted to help people step up to executive level and take responsibility for leading strategic change in the business. There was also a genuine intent to enable success of people as they transitioned and adjusted into new roles and context.
It’s easy to feel lost in a big business. Alshaya didn’t want that. In fact, they’re also growing the diversity of their team. So, it was really important for everyone to be seen and experience coaching as an individual.
What we did
We always start with our clients’ business goals. Alshaya’s were all about building the next level of executive leadership, so we used that insight to build a super individual approach.
We made the coaching limitless, so we were there as often as their people wanted us. And when they needed us too.
We made it personal, working on what each individual identified as a growth area, and exploring the gap between what people saw as their strengths versus what their managers thought.
We connected the dots. A critical part of the Alshaya coaching experience was meetings between the coachee, their manager, and the coach. To make sure personal and business goals matched up.
We took care of all the admin. Each executive got an assistant to deal with scheduling all their meetings.
And that’s the start of a whole coaching culture. Which is a good thing. Because that’s also Alshaya’s business priority.
“Without that skillset of being able to communicate clearly, you find yourself a little bit lost in the shuffle”.
The results
96% see themselves staying at Alshaya for the long haul
94% feel highly engaged at work
85% are smashing every job requirement (say their managers)
Who felt more engaged after coaching? Everyone. And more people were performing better and feeling more satisfied at work. So it’s no surprise that 16% more employees reported a strong intention to stay at Alshaya (making a total of 94% of the team).
