Hybrid workplace culture is a flexible working arrangement that allows employees to work on-site or off-site depending on their preferences.

Employees have definite preferences for working on or off-site! The Pulse of the American Worker survey found that only 8% of remote employees are willing to return to full-time work after the pandemic, and 48% of workers would prefer to work from home permanently. A Stanford study showed that only 20% of all workers would prefer to be in an office full time, while 25% would want to work at home full time.

Employees in fact want their companies to adopt a hybrid workplace culture. 87% want to work from home at least once a week, and 44% want to work from home for “part of” the week. 83% of workers identified hybrid workplace models as being optimal in the future, with 68% of American workers saying that working both remotely and on-site is the “perfect” workplace model. 55% of workers want to spent time in both the office and at home – and a whopping 83% of employees would leave their current job if working remotely meant less compensation.

Employees can really feel the benefits of a hybrid workplace culture. Workers who had a hybrid work model during the COVID-19 pandemic had better mental health and stronger work relationships; they also experienced less burnout than those who worked entirely on-site or entirely remotely.

Hybrid work models are in use by companies experiencing high growth trajectories. An Accenture report showed that 63% of high revenue growth companies are adopting a hybrid workplace culture. By contract, 69% of companies with negative or no growth say that they dislike the idea of hybrid workforces and prefer all on-site (or all remote) employees.

Executives are already planning increase investment to support hybrid working. 72% are investing in tools for virtual collaboration while 70% are focusing on building new IT infrastructure to secure virtual connectivity. 64% are offering training for their managers to help manage a remote workforce, 57% are looking to upgrade conference rooms with enhanced virtual connectivity, and 50% are looking to introduce “hoteling” applications that allow mostly remote workers to schedule time in the office when they need it.
